Parks Projects Update Pitt Meadows is the Natural Place where parks, open spaces, sports fields and green spaces are key to the way of life. Learn about some recent Parks Projects. Green Team Initiative The Parks Department teamed up with local Girl Guides and the Lower Mainland Green Team to restore habitats in our community! With 47 enthusiastic participants, they eliminated 10 cubic meters (equivalent to 63 bathtubs) of invasive plants! This fosters greater biodiversity, ensures a resilient, and functional, and beautiful environment for all to enjoy. Upgrades to Harris Road Traffic Islands In an effort to enhance sustainability and foster a more natural environment, the Parks Department has beautifully transformed the Harris Road traffic islands. The artificial turf has been removed and replaced with perennial plants that will add a touch of natural beauty year after year. Ahoy Kids, Prepare to Set Sail! The pirate ship-themed playground at North Commons Park has captured the hearts of the community! In response to the overwhelming love of the pirate ship, the Parks Department will be replacing the worn-out equipment in the Summer of 2023 with a brand new pirate ship playground. Cascades of Blooms The Parks Department installed 90 breathtaking hanging baskets this summer, while also implementing drip irrigation for the Harris Road planters to reduce water usage. 1 2 3 4
