Yoga - Restorative & Meditation 16Y+

To restore the mind and body connection. This class is a gentle sequence of moves that will refresh your body with slow restorative moves that allow for a longer stretch to relax the day's tensions. Props are recommended. Bring a mat, blocks and a bolster or blankets to roll up to give comfort and support to your poses. All levels are welcome. This 60-minute class is fully energized to give you cardiovascular and muscle toning benefits while you burn extra calories with salsa style. Zumba is a fun exercise in disguise, it's easy to follow and no dance experience is required. Come join the fun and leave invigorated and refreshed.

FEATURE ARTIST WORKSHOPS Open Art Studio Join us in August for two outdoor sketching workshops with avid sketcher, Wendy Mould. The workshops will be held outside at Waterfront Commons Park, weather permitting. In inclement weather, the workshop will take place inside at the South Bonson Community Centre. Please bring a sketchbook (approx. 5 x 8, Mixed Media recommended), pencil, eraser, small pack of watercolours, water container, watercolour brush in Size 10 & 6, paper towel, small portable chair for outside work. Optional: .05 Micron Pigma black ink pen. These workshops are a part of the Open Art Studio and are free, but require pre-registration, as space is limited. Outdoor Sketching – Getting Started 16Y+ Sketching outdoors can be overwhelming; there is so much to take in! Where do you start? What do you focus on? How do you put it all down on paper? Wendy will show you ways to help filter out all the details, so you can hone in on the subject and get sketching. Other techniques such as, how to set up your page, designing a focal point, working with changing light, moving from shapes to detail will also be covered. Drawing tips will be discussed, but will not be the main focus of this workshop. Wendy will be working with pen and watercolour, however, you can also work in pencil and watercolour, if you prefer. Wendy will focus on infusing colour into your work and ways to mix your colour on paper to get quick and interesting results. Drawing and watercolour skills are part of the instruction, but not the focus. Wendy will be working in pen and watercolour, however, you can choose to work in pencil and watercolour, if you prefer.
