An experienced instructor guides participants step-by-step through creating a handbag. Basics covered include threading a sewing machine, winding a bobbin, feeding fabric, sewing straight lines, turning corners and hemming. Participants also explore machine features, stitches, troubleshooting and practical tips for easier sewing. A $25 material fee is paid directly to the instructor. All sewing tools, machine and pattern are provided. Over six sessions, participants learn to cut and sew garments and accessories, work with non-stretch fabrics, hem, create elastic waistbands, finish edges, add darts and follow commercial patterns. Two projects will be completed from options such as tops, pants, skirts or bags. A materials list is provided at registration. All tools and machines are supplied, with the option to bring your own.
